Main Character Energy, But Make It October: 5 Small Things to Make You Feel Like Yourself Again🍂

BeReal Skin and Beyond blog

October has entered the chat.

The mornings are darker. The evenings are colder. The cosy clothes are officially back. Tea somehow tastes better. And suddenly, staying in with your favourite playlist sounds better than almost any plan.

Honestly? We get it.

But October doesn't have to be about disappearing into the sofa until spring. Think of it as your excuse to romanticise the little things again - the skincare ritual, the warm drink, the clean sheets, the silk pillow case, the silk eye mask and those five quiet minutes where nobody needs anything from you.

This isn't about becoming a new you. It's about feeling like yourself again.

Forget the complicated routines and unrealistic autumn glow-ups.

This October, we're choosing small rituals, cosy evenings and a little more main character energy.

Here are 5 small things to help you feel like yourself again.

1. Go to bed a little earlier

No, you don't have to become the person who's asleep at 8:30pm.

Just give yourself a little more time to wind down.

Put your phone down. Dim the lights. Change into something comfortable. Put on your favourite playlist and let the day actually end.

You could even make your evening feel a little more special with silk Pillow Cover, silk eye mask and fresh bedding.

Because sometimes getting ready for bed shouldn't feel like another task.

It should feel like the best part of your day.

October rule: bedtime is not boring. It's self-care.

2. Turn skincare into a ritual

Skincare doesn't have to be another thing on your to-do list.

Slow it down.

Cleanse. Apply your favourite serum or moisturiser. Take a few minutes with your jade roller. Use your jade eye mask for a little extra self-care.

And forget the idea that you need 15 different products to have a good routine.

A few things you genuinely enjoy using can be enough.

Put on some music. Take your time. Actually enjoy the process.

Less routine. More ritual.

3. Make yourself a relaxing tea

October and a warm cup of tea?

Obviously.

Instead of making tea while replying to emails, scrolling and thinking about everything you still need to do, make it an actual moment.

Try a simple Chamomile & Honey Tea

You'll need:

  • 1 chamomile tea bag or 1–2 tsp dried chamomile
  • 250 ml freshly boiled water
  • 1 tsp honey, or to taste
  • Optional: a small slice of lemon

How to make it:

Pour the hot water over the chamomile and let it steep for around 5–7 minutes.

Add honey once the tea has cooled slightly, stir and settle in.

And here's the important part:

Put your phone down.

No scrolling. No emails. No doom-scrolling. No checking what everyone else is doing.

Just your tea, your favourite mug, some music and ten quiet minutes.

BeReal tip:

Make the tea. Lose the phone.

You don't need a perfect evening routine.

Sometimes you just need a warm drink and a little space to breathe.

Note: chamomile is not for everyone and may not be suitable if you have certain allergies or take particular medicines. Treat it as a cosy drink, not a medical remedy.

4. Declutter one tiny space

We're not suggesting you reorganise your entire home.

Absolutely not.

Pick one thing.

Your bedside table.

Your bathroom shelf.

Your handbag.

That chair that's been holding clothes for approximately three weeks.

Clear it.

Wipe it down. Put things where they actually belong.

Then stop.

You don't need to spend your entire Saturday cleaning every cupboard.

Sometimes one small clear space is enough to make everything feel a little lighter.

Tiny reset. Big difference.

5. Give yourself five minutes of absolutely nothing

This might be the hardest one.

No scrolling.

No emails.

No messages.

Just five minutes.

Sit with your tea.

Listen to music.

Look out of the window.

Use your silk eye mask.

Lie down.

Do nothing.

Because sometimes self-care isn't another thing you need to do.

Sometimes it's giving yourself permission to do absolutely nothing.

And yes, doing nothing can feel surprisingly productive when you've spent all day doing everything.

Your October Main Character Moment

October doesn't need to be a transformation.

You don't need a new routine, a new personality or a completely new life.

Maybe you just need earlier nights.

A little less scrolling.

A skincare ritual you actually enjoy.

A tidy bedside table.

A warm cup of tea.

Five quiet minutes.

And a silk pillow case and a silk eye mask while you pretend you're the main character in an autumn film.

Because feeling like yourself again doesn't have to be complicated.

It can start with something really small.

So this October, don't chase the glow-up.

Come back to yourself.

Make the tea.

Put the phone down.

Take the five minutes.

And enjoy your own company.

Romanticise the ordinary. You’re the main character, remember?🍂
